Bussinesses We Like in Providence and Beyond

Here:
A volunteer based community bike education and maintenance collective
Grainger
Mega online buy anything industrial (abrasives - welding) store, with local branches in Warwick and Pawtucket.  Next day shipping is a bonus.
Dash Bicycle
Bike shop on Broadway.  Don't know much about the bicycle aspect of the business, but these guys were always more than happy to have a conversation and offer assistance well beyond the norm, from technical advice to free spare parts.  It was a pleasure.
Never been during business hours, but surprising red carpet service when closed.   Great resource for custom metal work as well as youth programming and adult education classes in ceramics, glass, jewelry, blacksmithing and welding.
North Pacific
Large distributer of building products, industrial and hardwood products plus.  Local branch off of Allens Ave. extremely helpful and able to take the time to discuss project and product usage.
Science and technology related robotics store.
McCarten Violins
Great resource for musical restoration and repair, located inside another great resource, the Hope Street Artists Village.  Winter farmer's market Saturdays 11am-3pm.  Well worth the trip.
Precision Laser
Laser cutting at its best.  Very personalized service and high quality work with rapid turn-around.
Tops Electric
Lighting fixture showroom with an electrical supply store in the back.
       One stop supply warehouse.
RISD Prints
Great quality printing, but the true gem is the conversation you'll have while you wait.

There (strictly bluetooth):
Small Parts Catalogue
An online hardware store for researchers and developers.  Everything including tubing, fittings, raw materials, fasteners, lab & scientific, industrial, hand tools, cutting tools.
McMastercarr
All things industrial supply... literally everything you can think of.  Next day delivery, good prices (though expensive stuff in general).  However, no local branch to preview products.
